Application for macOS

Available since 0.2.0

A native application bundle for macOS on Apple Silicon: its own menu bar, Finder drag and drop, and the engine it talks to over the local control protocol.

MusicStation for macOS is an application bundle, not a browser tab: it carries its own window with the transport bar and the session view, and its own menu bar with About, What's New, Settings, Keyboard Shortcuts, the editing and window commands and the manual.

The bundle is built for Apple Silicon (arm64) and runs on macOS 13 or later. It talks to the engine over the control protocol on the loopback address, so the audio runs in the engine process and never through the web view of the interface.

Working inside the application is what makes Finder drag and drop possible: dropping an audio file onto a slot needs the shell, which hands the file path to the engine. A browser preview of the interface has no such connection and cannot load a clip.

Limits of this version

This page names the limits that matter in practice instead of implying more. What a release changed - and what it did not - stands in its release notes.
