MusicStationRemote is the iPad app that drives a running MusicStation over the local network. It is a normal client of the same control protocol the desktop interface uses: the bridge (msh-bridge) runs next to the engine on the Mac, and the remote talks to the bridge - never to the engine, never to the audio path.

The remote finds bridges on the network over Bonjour and lists them with their host name, address and protocol version, or you type the address yourself - studio-mac, 192.168.1.20:47900 or a complete ws:// address. Pairing needs the pairing token of the bridge: 32 lower-case hexadecimal characters, printed when the bridge starts and reprintable with --print-token.

Once connected, the app shows the same 16 by 16 clip grid as the desktop and mirrors it live: tap a slot to launch it, tap a playing slot to stop it, tap a scene button to start its whole row, and pick the launch quantisation from the same seven values. The texts of the remote follow the language of the iPad and exist in English and German.

Limits of this version

This page names the limits that matter in practice instead of implying more. What a release changed - and what it did not - stands in its release notes.
