English and German

Available since 0.1.0

Every label, dialog, manual page and release note exists in English and in German, and the language can be switched while the program runs.

The interface ships in English and in German. The Language setting switches it immediately, without a restart: labels, menus, dialogs, the built-in manual and the release notes follow, and the About dialog carries the same switch so that the notes can be read in the other language without leaving it.

The choice is remembered for the next start. On the very first start MusicStation follows the language of the system; Reset language returns to that system language, or to English when the system reports neither of the two.

The texts are part of the build and not of a network service: the manual and the release notes ship inside the application and work offline in both languages. The engine sends stable codes instead of prose, so a message it causes appears in the language the interface is running in.

Limits of this version

This page names the limits that matter in practice instead of implying more. What a release changed - and what it did not - stands in its release notes.
